  • EUROPEX elects new Chairman: José Carvalho Netto, Chairman and CEO of OMIE S.A. and OMIP S.G.M.R., S.A. and welcomes three new members: CEGH A.G. (Austria), OKTE S.A. (Slovakia) and SEMO (Ireland)

    EUROPEX members, in their General Assembly of 22/11/2011 in Brussels, have elected José Carvalho Netto, Chairman and CEO of both OMIE S.A. (the Spanish Management Company operating the Iberian Spot Market) and OMIP S.G.M.R., S.A. (the Portuguese office of the Iberian Market Operator for Forward Market) as Chairman of EUROPEX and will chair the Association, according to its statutes, for a two years term, starting in January 2012.

    The General Assembly also warmly welcomes Central European Gas Hub AG (CEGH AG) of Austria, Slovak Power Exchange (OKTE S.A.) and Single Electricity Market Operator (SEMO) of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland as new full members of EUROPEX as of today.

  • EUROPEX publishes a Position Paper on Guarantees of Origin Market Platform: A Possible Role of Organized Markets

    Functioning markets need balanced supply-demand drivers as well as standardization and ease of trading. Currently, demand is driven by various national specifics and to a lesser extent by voluntary demand by consumers. Due to the eligibility of all renewables, irrespective of size and plant age, supply and demand are not balanced.     EUROPEX members, in their General Assembly of 9th May in Lisbon, unanimously took note of the progress achieved so far by the Price Coupling of Regions (PCR) project and reconfirmed their support to this challenging project.

  • ACER Annual Conference

    The Agency for the Cooperation of the Energy Regulators (ACER) will be organizing its first annual conference “Making the internal energy market a reality - which role for ACER?” on 14 March 2012 - Castle of Ljubljana, where EUROPEX and some of our members will be speaking particularly on the Internal Electricity Market: Implementing the Roadmaps; the Internal Gas Market: Vision and Implementation; and Market Transparency and Integrity.

  • RECS Market Meeting 2012

    EUROPEX is a supporting association of the RECS Market Meeting 2012 that will take place in Amsterdam on 21 and 22 March.

    The focus of the conference is about the origin of demand: consumers. The key question to be addressed in the 2012 RECS Market Meeting will be: “Who is purchasing renewable electricity and why?”

    According to RECS, it’s important for consumers to know that renewable electricity is robust and reliable, and that is why the RECS Market Meeting focuses on the Guarantee of Origin (GO) – the tool that makes the market for renewable electricity transparent.

Work Group Environmental Market

Chair of the Working Group

The Working Group on Environmental Markets (WGEM) has been created by a decision of the EUROPEX Steering Committee of 25 February 2009 to carry out the technical work indicated hereby, according to the Working Group program and the Steering Committee decision.

The WGEM deals with matters related to environment market solutions including green certificates, Fid-In-Tariffs, energy efficiency, emission trading and Guaranties of Origin.

The aim of the WGEM is to:

Facilitate co-operation between power exchanges members by creating an information platform to share experiences in implementing different environmental markets;

 

.

Analyse environmental policies adopted in the countries which have not chosen a market mechanism to support renewables;

 

.

Analyse European proposals/guidelines on environmental measures;

 

.

Assist the EUROPEX Steering Committee in the formulation of proposals on environmental issues to be submitted to the European Commission and develop and enhance europex external relations on environmental markets, such as contributions to studies, events and conferences on these matters.
