Powernext SA, incorporated in 2001, is a regulated market operating under AMF supervision. Powernext manages the natural gas activities of the EEX Group under the PEGAS brand throughout Europe, and operates the National Registry for electricity guarantees of origin in France. Additionally, Powernext also manages Powernext Energy Savings, a dedicated spot market for French White Certificates (Certificats d’Economies d’Energie) launched on 10th January 2012. About 47 full-time employees work for Powernext in the IT, legal, regulatory, administration, product and business development, communication and sales functions. These employees serve Powernext’s own markets, as well as external parties through various service agreements. Powernext owns 40.3% of EPEX SPOT shares.

As of 1st January 2016, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) is the majority shareholder with 87.73 percent of the Powernext shares.
