Europex, together with the European Biogas Association (EBA), Energy Traders Europe, eNG Coalition, ENTSOG, ERGaR, Eurogas and Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), has published a joint paper on the revision of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/996.
The paper supports stronger traceability and fraud prevention through the Union Database, while calling for rules that reflect how Europe’s interconnected gas markets and infrastructure operate. Key recommendations cover mass balancing, access for imports from third countries, liquefaction pathways, auditing and hydrogen blending.
The signatories also call for clear rules linking gas volumes, proofs of sustainability and guarantees of origin, without creating unnecessary barriers to trading and market liquidity.
