REMIT
About
The Working Group REMIT was established in 2024 in light of the increasing political and regulatory discussion on how to improve and update the centrally coordinated European market surveillance system. The Working Group REMIT aims to enhance the integrity and transparency of wholesale energy markets, crucial for maintaining efficient market functioning in line with the EU’s energy regulation frameworks, notably REMIT and CSMAD/MAR. This group is integral to Europex’ efforts in ensuring that energy trading is conducted transparently and securely, thereby preventing market abuse and contributing to the stability of the energy sector.
The Working Group REMIT collaborates closely with key regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders including the European Commission, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER), and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). This collaboration is aimed at improving data reporting practices, a core requirement under REMIT and MAR, by bringing together expertise from Registered Reporting Mechanisms (RRMs), Organised Market Places (OMPs), Inside Information Platforms (IIPs) and Persons Professionally Arranging Transactions (PPATs).
Overall, the group focuses on promoting best practices in market monitoring and surveillance to detect and deter market manipulation and insider trading. It plays a vital role in advising on the development of secure, efficient, and transparent energy markets and on the implementation of robust data reporting frameworks.
