CV Pieter Schuurs
Pieter Schuurs is President and COO of ICE Endex as well as Europex Chairman.
ICE Endex was established in 2013 as result of the split of the spot gas & derivatives business from APX-ENDEX. Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) is the sole shareholder of ICE Endex.
Before Pieter assumed his position at ICE Endex, he served as COO on the board of APX-ENDEX.
His career encompasses senior roles in the securities industry at Euronext Amsterdam, ING and Robeco. Pieter chaired and acted as a member of various Dutch and international representative bodies focusing on the consolidation and harmonisation of European securities infrastructure. Currently he is Deputy Chairman of the supervisory board of the Dutch Private Investors Association, VEB.
Pieter holds a university degree in civil, social and economic law at Utrecht University.
CV Jonas Törnquist
Jonas Törnquist is Chief Operating Officer of the European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT
EPEX SPOT runs continuous 24/7 power markets and Day-Ahead power auctions throughout Europe. Appointed as COO in 2016, Jonas is responsible for leading the Exchange’s operations and for shaping the commercial services provided to its customers.
Jonas is an international leader of organisations with diverse cultures and
varied locations in Europe and Australasia. His experience englobes a unique
combination of strategy design and operational implementation, within both
financial and energy markets and their intersections. Jonas’ previous roles
span from board mandates to operational and strategy positions along many parts of the energy value chain. This includes exchanges, industrial utilities, trading desks, technology and research companies and governmental institutions.
Jonas has completed a Corporate Finance Program at the London Business School, he furthermore holds an MBA in Finance and Economics from Victoria University in New Zealand and an MSc in Materials Physics from Uppsala University in Sweden.
In his free time, Jonas enjoys travelling the world, spending time with his family and using his positive and curious personality to learn new things and challenge himself.
CV Borut Rajer
Borut Rajer is Director of Operations at Borzen, the Slovenian Power Market Operator, where he previously held the post of Head of Renewables and R&D.
His work primarily encompasses the oversight and development of market operations (nominations, scheduling, imbalance settlement, balancing market), data reporting (REMIT RRM), and, in the field of renewable energy sources, mainly directing the operations of the Slovenian renewables support scheme (“Centre for RES/CHP support”). Other activities include analysis of electricity and related markets, market coupling and guarantees of origin.
His main projects include setting up and overseeing the Centre for RES/CHP Support in 2009 (which runs the Slovenian feed-in support scheme), the Slovenian Guarantees of Origin Registry and associated national GO system, and other applications (e.g. ADA-TS Single Seller Auction application, DELFI Short-term RES production forecasting tool). He was also involved in setting up the Slovenian Power Exchange BSP and the associated day-ahead market coupling project on the Slovenian-Italian border.
He is a guest lecturer for Energy Economics at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics, covering primarily the field of renewables and the energy market.
From 1 January 2014 until 31 December 2017 he was the Head of Working Group “Environmental Markets” at Europex, the Association of European Energy Exchanges.
Since 1 January 2018 he is a Board Member of Europex.
CV Artur Trindade

Artur holds a Master in Economics from the University of Kent at Canterbury. In his earlier career, he lectured in several Portuguese universities whilst also working as a consultant in the banking sector. In 2000, he joined the Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos (ERSE), the Energy Services Regulatory Authority, as an economist, until 2009 when he took on the role of Director of ERSE’s Costs and Revenues Department.
Having left ERSE briefly in 2012 to serve as Secretary of State for Energy Policy in the previous Portuguese government, Artur returned to ERSE in 2015 to assume the role of Director General for Regulation. In addition to his national responsibilities, Artur chaired the European energy regulators’ Gas Working Group, from April 2016 to June 2017.
In July 2017, he was appointed to OMI, Iberian Energy Market Operator. Since January 2018 he is a member of the Board at EUROPEX.
CV Kari Ekelund Thørud

Kari Ekelund Thørud joined Nord Pool in summer 2018 from her position as Deputy CEO and Senior Vice President Markets at Norwegian power company Hafslund ASA.
Kari has extensive experience from the energy business, most recently having been responsible for the transformation of Hafslund from a Norwegian electricity sales organisation to the leading Nordic power retailer. She started her career with the Norwegian Water Resource and Energy Directorate (NVE) through several different positions in the Hafslund group. In addition she has served on, among others, the Board of Directors at Energi Norge AS and Energy Future Invest AS.
Kari Ekelund Thørud was educated at BI Norwegian Business School from which she holds a Business Degree with a specialism in international business. She also holds executive management qualifications in Financial Energy Analysis from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, and in Strategy, Innovation and Management from INSEAD.
CV Piotr Zawistowski

Piotr Zawistowski has been in the energy industry since 2000. He started his career in the sector as a power trader at Zakład Energetyczny Legnica and later with EnergiaPro Koncern Energetyczny S.A. In 2007-2008, he actively participated in the inception of EnergiaPro Gigawat, where he became Director of the Analysis and Risk Management Department. From 2008, he was Director of the Portfolio Management Department of TAURON Polska Energia S.A., where he took part in a number of key projects including as Project Manager responsible for the development of TAURON Group’s business model and for the integration of trade functions with GZE (Vattenfall) Group companies.
From May 2014 to December 2015, he was President of the Management Board of TAURON Obsługa Klienta sp. z o.o., and from December 2015 to March 2017, Vice President of the Management Board and Head of Customer Service and Trade with TAURON Polska Energia S.A., responsible among others for the development of TAURON Group’s offer of electricity and gas products.
He was also President of the Executive Board of the Association of Energy Trading (TOE) from March 2016 to March 2017 and Member of the Executive Board of the Polish Electricity Association (PKEE). Since September 2017, he has been on the Supervisory Board of the Polish Power Exchange.
Piotr Zawistowski holds an MA in Corporate Management from the Wrocław University of Economics (2002). He completed a post-graduate programme in Sales Management at the Higher School of Banking in Wrocław (2007).
